Are you sending the wrong signals to Google by unwittingly using microformats on WordPress pages?
If you used any number of popular WordPress theme’s as the starting point for your companies website, you may be using a microformat you had no idea you were using! When most theme developers create their pages, they often duplicate the post template and use it as the page template. The post template for most WordPress themes use the hAtom microformat, which is perfect for blog posts but can cause issues for your pages. Learn more about the hAtom microformat.
I have seen a number of themes where the microformats on the page template were incorrect, and if you were to use one of them a site in which the majority of the content is in the form of “pages” (as opposed to “posts”) you going to be presenting your content incorrectly.
Double Check your Theme
You can easily test your pages to ensure your sending the correct signals using Google’s Rich Snippets Testing Tool. If this is occurring on your theme, simply set your H1 tag back to “entry-title” and remove “entry-title” from the H2 tag.
